近代研究商鞅學說,大抵多能注重其法治上的成效,本文則在探討商鞅對於儒學的態度。舉凡人性、人倫、人道及人的文化歷史等價值,為儒家共許之義。探討商鞅對於儒學的態度,實已潛存對其偏執學說與曇花一現之事功的反省。本文從《商君書‧靳令篇》所列的「六蝨」切入,分作「非禮樂的尚戰觀念」「非詩書、辯慧的反智思維」「非仁義的崇法政策」「非孝弟、誠信、慈廉、善修的獎告姦特色」「非非兵、羞戰的強國思想」五部分說明,分析其視禮樂、詩書、仁義、孝弟等為「蝨」的原因,比較與儒家學說的異同,同時探討商鞅尚法治崇耕戰思想的建立。歸納得知商鞅提出「六蝨說」的重要理念,一是穩定農戰和崇尚法制的政策,二是營造儒家詩書禮樂仁義等思維與法治、農戰的衝突和不相容。也就是將道德與政治截然分開,注重政治實效而忽略人文化育的價值,可見其對富國強兵雖有獨創性的貢獻,卻失去人文本源的現象。
