zh_TW
The main purpose of this study is to investigate the current status of parent-child reading practices among preschool children in remote areas of Nantou County and to explore the motivations, thoughts, and challenges faced by parents in implementing parent-child reading, considering different background variables. The research employed a questionnaire survey method, targeting parents of public preschool children in remote areas of Nantou County during the 112th academic year. The questionnaire was adapted from previous studies and modified accordingly, with 381 valid responses collected. After questionnaire collection, the data were analyzed using SPSS for descriptive statistics and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The main findings are summarized as follows:1.Parents in remote areas of Nantou County show a certain level of importance and participation in parent-child reading.2.Parent-child reading among parents in remote areas of Nantou County typically starts when children are between 1 and less than 3 years old, occurs mainly on weekends, lacks a fixed frequency, lasts less than 20 minutes per session, involves an average of one picture book per session, primarily involves books selected based on the child's preferences, focuses on storybooks, and is predominantly sourced from books purchased by the child's parents or primary caregivers. 3.Parents in remote areas of Nantou County generally hold positive attitudes towards the motivations and thoughts behind implementing parent-child reading. 4.Time constraints are identified as the most significant challenge faced by parents in remote areas of Nantou County when implementing parent-child reading. 5.Significant differences are observed among parents in remote areas of Nantou County with different ages, educational backgrounds, occupations, and reading habits in terms of their motivations, thoughts, interaction patterns, overall motivations, and thoughts regarding parent-child reading.6.Significant differences exist among parents in remote areas of Nantou County with different ages, educational backgrounds, occupations, and reading habits regarding the challenges encountered in implementing parent-child reading.Based on the research conclusions, the following recommendations are proposed for parents of preschool children in remote areas of Nantou County, government and kindergartens, on-site teachers, and future related research:1.Parents of preschool children in remote areas of Nantou County: Improve family functioning, provide more companionship for children, enhance personal reading abilities, utilize various resources from society, community, and schools, manage time effectively, and explore suitable stress relief methods.2.Government and kindergartens, on-site teachers: Strengthen promotion and education on parent-child reading, organize reading activities, increase resources and support, encourage reading habits, and enhance societal awareness and support.3.Future related research: Expand the scope of research, increase sample sizes, incorporate qualitative research methods such as interviews, and include questions related to public libraries in the questionnaire. These recommendations aim to foster better parent-child reading practices in remote areas of Nantou County, enhance educational support from institutions, and guide future research directions.en_US
