Abstract
The purpose of this study was to understand the influence of social demographic variables and school social environmental factors on the exercise behavior of elementary school teachers and explore the relationship of exercise behavior between the teachers and the students. The sample was selected by stratified cluster sampling. The data were collected through a self-administered questionnaire from 1,264 teachers and 4,006 students analyzed with Chi-square test, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation, Logistic regression and Multiple regression. The important results are as follows: (1)Only 30% of the elementary school teachers exercise regularly; meanwhile 46% of the elementary school students exercised regularly.(2)Subjects with male gender, age greater than 51 years, income more than NT$70,001,and teaching more than 21 years exercised regularly.(3)Subjects with male gender, income more than NT$70,001, non-grade teacher, older age, more years of teaching, more principal’s care and support, and better harmony among teachers had better exercise behavior.(4)Gender, years of teaching, harmony among teachers, and manager type principal were significant predictors of exercise behavior.(5)Gender, marital status, years of teaching, and harmony among teachers were significant predictors of exercise behavior. ( 6) No significant relationship of exercise behavior between the teachers and the students.
