「志道、據德、依仁、遊藝」臆解

dc.description.abstract《論語.述而》「志於道」這一章,前賢之論述本多,似無再置喙之空間,但本文卻嘗試就《論語》相關各章所論,並結合《禮記.中庸》對「性」與「誠」、「明」之闡述,從不同角度切入,予以分析論證,期望得出之結果,會有一點參考價值。經過了探討,認為這一章論的是為學之目標、依據與過程。所謂「志於道」,是說立定志向,把「仁且智」以成己成物的聖道做為一生的最高目標。所謂「據於德」,是說「德」是所據以邁向目標的源頭力量,而它有「仁之德」與「知(智)之德」兩種,這是人據以無限向上進德修業的原動力,如果不據於此,那就無法來成己又成物了。所謂「依於仁」,是說不違仁道,要做到「無終食之間違仁;造次必於是,顛沛必於是」(〈里仁〉)的地步,這可說是偏就「仁之德」向外發揮以成己的過程來說的。所謂「游於藝」,是說要游習六藝,而六藝「皆至理之所寓,而日用之不可闕者也。朝夕游焉,以博其義理之趣,則應物有餘,而心亦無所放矣」(朱注),這可說是偏就「知(智)之德」向外發揮以成物的過程來說的。這樣舉出四端,將孔門教育的目標、依據和過程,一一交代清楚,真是「本末兼該,內外交養」(朱注),周備至極。zh_tw
