This Master’s thesis seeks to give answers to the two main research questions. Firstly, “what does a digitalization strategy for implementing Industry 4.0 in the case of Bender Tribünen look like?”. The objective is to figure out how to build up a strategy based on the current situation of external and internal influences to successfully implement Industry 4.0 technologies and processes in the organization. The fundamental source for understanding the status quo of the company in terms of digital maturity is obtained through an Industry 4.0 Readiness Check, which analyzes the level of implementation and gives notice about improvement potentials. Based on the results of the Industry 4.0 Readiness Check, a comprehensive digitalization strategy has been developed with specified objectives, a SWOT-Analysis, worked out action recommendations and a controlling process to steer the success of the project. The result reveals strong improvement potentials in the areas of “Employees”, “Datadriven Services” and “Smart Factory”. The second question that is addressed is, “what strengths and weaknesses of the existing readiness models for Industry 4.0 can be ascertained?”. The second objective of the thesis was to analyze two chosen Industry 4.0 Readiness Checks, the Impuls – Industry 4.0 Readiness Check and the Inlumia – Industry 4.0 Readiness Check for their strengths and weaknesses in terms of usability, integrity, design, validity, approach and clarity. The result of the analysis served as a decision guidance of which Readiness Check will be applied to the case company. The Impuls – Industry 4.0 Readiness Check positively convinced with its strengths and, therefore, was chosen for the further analysis of the current situation for Bender Tribünen.
