Abstract

Podcast and YouTube are two popular social platforms to obtain information. Podcast uses sound as the main transmission method, which is easier to produce than YouTube visual images. However, even with the same audio and video content, the visual and auditory reception effects are still different. Therefore, the application of narrative adaptation is to break through the established form of expression of the text, use new media and other interpretation methods to extend the content, and further promote the interactive relationship with the audience. The purpose of this study is to explore how the presentation of images and animation effects in the process of podcast narrative adaptation on YouTube affects listeners' interpretation of the content. Through the experimental method, the same content is adapted into four forms: pure subtitle animation, slide animation, animation storyboard animation and pure animation, and through in-depth interviews to explore the feelings and opinions on adapting podcasts to different forms of YouTube videos. The research results show that the form of YouTube animation can enhance the podcast narrative experience and audience interaction, and pure subtitle animation and pureanimation are more attractive due to the balance of dynamics and vision. In addition, listeners tend to pay more attention to the podcast theme itself rather than the form. This result helps to understand the interactive relationship between podcasts and YouTube, and how to use different image presentation methods to enhance the narrative effect.
