Abstract
The ocean covers seventy percent of the Earth's surface, and ships are one of the most common man-made objects that come into contact with it, with countless legends and stories associated with them. Throughout history, ships have played a significant role in allowing humans to cross the seemingly insurmountable barrier of the ocean and explore the unknown on the other side. The purposeful navigation and aimless drifting of ships also resonate with the author's life experiences. As a writer who did not major in fine arts, the author perceives life as an endless journey, and everyone is a wanderer experiencing various ups and downs along the way, much like the different stages of joys and sorrows in life. Through such wandering, the author gradually seeks self-discovery and growth. Another key point the author wishes to convey is the traces left behind during these journeys. The author believes that imperfection is more meaningful than perfection, as it allows people to continue their pursuit, and the beauty of imperfection represents the individual's enlightenment and wisdom. The author creates using a realistic and concrete style, combining the consciousness of wandering with expressive techniques such as symbolism, association, and empathy to convey ideas. Artistic works created by artists exist within their own world, and the expressions presented in the image may seem natural to the artist, but others may not necessarily receive the message the artist intends to convey. Artistic works often have an indescribable quality, and artistsneed to use their personal painting skills and aesthetics to overcome the limitations of rational thinking and enter the subjective and emotional inner world, conveying their core spirit within, and it is only by moving themselves that they can touch the hearts of viewers. This thesis is structured into five chapters. Chapter 1, the introduction, provides a brief overview of the author's creative motivations, objectives, and research methods. Chapter 2 explores the imagery of ships in literature, history, mythology, and art, as well as the concepts of wandering consciousness and the beauty of imperfection, and investigates the sources and techniques of realistic forms as the theoretical basis for the research. Chapter 3 elucidates the concepts, content, techniques, and creative processes used in this research project. Chapter 4 interprets the author's artworks created in thisstudy. Finally, Chapter 5 serves as the conclusion of this research thesis, summarizing the entire paper.
