Abstract
Mountain, land, sea, forest, river, soil, wind, and plants and animals living in this planet, these are the most beautiful things in nature that have existed long before humans. When humankind first appeared on this planet, they lived through their instincts just like all the other creatures. But, as civilized society had been built, people started to come up with the concept that humans are masters of the world. This concept led people to believe that man can dominate nature, and so, in the period following the Industrial Revolution, we began to harvest nature’s resources greedily. As long as the environmental damage has threatened creatures’ lives — including humans as well — people started to think of a way of living together with nature. How can this relationship between us be sustainable? There are a lot of eco-friendly ways to live that have been talked about, and a lot of eco-friendly concepts have been proposed. I try to transfer my views into painting, letting people discuss the way we treat our world and our future. I tried to research the relationship between human and nature, and presented my views through oil painting. I used biology’s “symbiosis classification” to describe different situations of human and nature based on ecological ethics. Chapter one includes the motivation, methods and purposes of this research. Chapter two is about symbiosis, ecological ethics and different perspectives from artworks. Chapter three shows my own personal perspective. Chapter four includes contents, forms and techniques of this series. Chapter five analyzes every work individually. In the last chapter I made a conclusion of this research and art practice.
