This paper presents empirical data in understanding how intellectual capital influences business performance; specifically in the context of Taiwanese design companies. An Intellectual capital questionnaire was adopted to measure the intellectual capital components, including human capital, structural capital, and relational capital. 87 samples are collected and the data are analyzed by Partial Least Squares (PLS) method. The empirical result of PLS shows that intellectual capital does have significant influence on Taiwanese design companies’ performance. However, due to Taiwanese design companies’ organizational structure, structural capital does not support a positive influence on their performance. Also, it is indicated that ‘number of employees in the company’ and the ‘company age’ influence the structural capital on business performance.Item Crisis and Challenge of Transitional Changes for China Labor Migration(2008-10-29) Cheng-Ping ShihItem Measuaring the Process Innovation Competency of Casa Pellas Company in Nicaragua(2011-06-14) Cheng-Ping Shih; Jocelynn GutierrezNowadays due to globalization, companies are facing many challenges, one of them is innovation. This is because; innovation involves the adoption of new products and/or processes to increase competitiveness and overall profitability. (Kenny B., Reedy E. 2006) Therefore, this study aims at examining how the theory Framework of Innovation developed by Panne et. Al. (2003) affects the IPOT research model developed by Shih & Tseng (2009), and will help us to determine if this model fits traditional industry. As an example of traditional company, the study of Casa Pellas will be used. To validate the results, a well-known, profitable and innovative company should be analyzed, for which Casa Pellas completely qualifies. By using a multiple regression analysis and backward elimination, we will study the four success factors. In this study, a fifth factor will be added to reflect the importance of the demographic-factor in the success of a company. Although the IPOT is composed of innovation competency, process, organizational and technical innovation, the focus of this study will introduce the benefits of process innovation. The empirical results most of the five independent factors are significant.Item Measuring the Impact of Three Factors on Cross-cultural Working Satisfaction for Stuff of Taiwan Multinational Companies in Thailand(Institute Rajamangala University of Technology, 2009-01-01) Cheng-Ping ShihItem Measuaring the Organizational Innovation Competency of Casa Pellas Company in Nicaragua(2011-07-15) Cheng-Ping Shih; Jocelynn Gutierrez
