    The research of vocational high school graphic communications major student's professional competencies in Taiwan.

    There are rapid technological changes and the printing industry has been gradually transformed from a low-tech labor-intensive to a high technology industry with a better quality and efficiency. This transition is one of main concerns when developing a vocational high school graphic communications major curriculum in Taiwan. The research started with a comprehensive literature review regarding to the competencies based on the curricula. Meanwhile, the Competencies Needed of Vocational High School Graphic Communications Major Student Survey questionnaires were developed and Taiwan Printing Industry Association members were the survey target participants. Through the survey and analysis, this study constructed a total of five professional major competency categories, 39 indicators, for vocational high school graphic communications department curricula. The five categories are design, photography, prepress, presswork, and finishing capabilities. The results showed that within the five major competencies, prepress is the most important competence recommended by the printing industry.

    A study of color description and cognition.

    Color is used as one of the most important factors that drive and direct people's daily lives. Different colors represent different color cognition or perception. Literature review showed that a domestic color cognition study for Taiwan citizens is needed Firstly, the study conducted a literature view and a focused group to generate a comprehensive set of color descriptions, 26 color cognition adjectives. Meanwhile, the technology of 'color management', to remain color fidelity, and the color model of 'web color', to have appropriate color variations, was adopted in the color description and cognition survey. Finally, an in-depth statistical and graphical analysis regarding to every color description was finished.

    Professional abilities of the employees working in digital publishing industry.

    As digital publishing is becoming the next mainstream trend, the traditional publishing industry must undergo transformation to cultivate talents and accelerate the switch to digital publishing. This study explores what professional abilities that digital publishing industry employees must possess. In this study, a literature review was conducted to collect information on the current development of digital publishing industry. Through the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) questionnaires, this study constructs a complete competence hierarchy and indicators. Considering the demand for professional competencies items in digital publishing industry, "system development" is weighted the most. Among competence indicators, "learn encryption of digital files" is most required by digital publishing employees.
