Abstract
William Alwyn (1905-1985) was a Neoclassicism composer, performer, linguist, poet, and artist. He inherited the post-romanticism music style at the early age of creation. Hereafter became interested in the creative technique of Neoclassicism, studied profoundly and applied it to his works. He even devoted himself to the movie soundtrack and documentary in 1941. The first chapter introduces the life and music style of Alwyn. Thesecond chapter presents neoclassicism, music style, also the creative type and background of Sonata for oboe and piano. The third and fourth chapters analyze, interpret, and discuss the technique of the music by dividing movements. Finally, the fifth chapter concludes this thesis. At the end of the text, appendix the works list of William Alwyn.
