zh_TW
In Taipei City, fully enrolled junior high schools result from the educational choice in the Confucian context, but who can enroll in the fully enrolled junior high school? Do students of a socioeconomics flock together? The research aims at probing into the neighborhood effects on fully enrolled junior high schools in Taipei City. First, we use T-test to understand if the ratio of students in fully enrolled junior high schools entering senior high schools is better than that of those in not fully enrolled junior high schools. Secondly, we apply factor analysis to seeing what the attributes of neighborhoods in the districts of fully enrolled and not fully enrolled junior high schools are. Are the ones of fully enrolled junior high schools better than not fully enrolled junior high schools? Thirdly, we build simple linear regression models to examine if neighborhood effects work? Fourthly, we apply Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with overlay analysis and hotspot analysis, and make suggestions by the results. The major findings are as follows: 1. The ratio of students in fully enrolled junior high schools entering senior high schools is better than that of those in not fully enrolled junior high schools. 2. The attributes of neighborhoods in the district of fully enrolled junior high schools are better. Students of higher socioeconomics flock together. 3. Fully enrolled junior high schools take advantage of advantaged neighbors. The neighborhood effects do work on both fully enrolled and not fully enrolled junior high schools and shift the ratio of students entering senior high schools. The effects are stronger on fully enrolled junior high schools. 4. The authorities should give positive discrimination to help the most disadvantaged place.en_US
